VEGA at GSOC
The German Space
Operations Centre (GSOC) is the central institution for Germany’s
Spaceflight operations. Located near Oberpfaffenhofen, about 20 km
west of Munich, GSOC’s responsibilities include operating satellite
missions for Earth observation, communications, the exploration of
the solar system, and human Spaceflight missions. It is also
responsible for the Galileo Control Centre facilities.
In close co-operation with other DLR (German Aerospace Agency)
institutes, and together with public and industrial partners, GSOC
plays a major role in European Spaceflight. GSOC’s four main areas
of expertise, all of which VEGA supports, are:
- Mission operations, including human Spaceflight missions
- Spaceflight technology
- Galileo
- Ground stations and communications
