System Engineer – Sentinel-3 Payload Data Ground Segment [J 1992]

 

Opportunity for an engineer to work on development of the Sentinel-3 Payload Data Ground System.

The tasks concentrate on the system level tasks.

 

 

Objective

Key objectives of this position include

 

  • Support Payload Data Ground System engineering
  • Work with the rest of the team to ensure a coherent solution while meeting tight budget and time constraints

 

 

Responsibilities / Duties

  • Requirements engineering
  • RAMS Analysis
  • Operational Concept Analysis
  • Security Analysis
  • Review of design documentation
  • Review and preparation of test plans

 

 

Qualifications / Experience

 

  • A university degree in computer science, mathematics, or equivalent
  • Experience in general software development and software engineering

 

 

Essential Skills

  • Payload Data Ground System engineering
  • Object-oriented design
  • Design with UML and CASE tools
  • Understanding of hardware configuration based on virtual machines
  • Integration and testing methodology
  • Good command of the English language
  • Detailed knowledge at design level in at least two of the following specific data domain:

o        Instrument Processing Facility

o        Mission Performance Monitoring

o        Calibration/Validation

o        Short-term and Long-term Archiving

o        Mission Planning

o        Front-End Processor

o        Circulation and dissemination mechanisms

o        Processing Management

o        Monitoring and Control

o        Statistics & Reporting System

 

 

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of ESA’s ECSS standards applicable to Ground Segment development
  • Knowledge of LINUX software package and tools
  • Understanding of space sensors data processing
  • Experience with DOORS
  • Experience in space industry

 

 

Qualities

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
